Yeah so CCP finally 'officially' announced their second MMO, and showed a private screening of a short film. Here. It will be interesting to see how this pans out, and how it might influence CCP's work with EVE, more so with WIS and how it might move forward in the future.

Well I think it is somewhat relevant in that obviously both EVE and WOD will use the Carbon engine stuff. I think there could be some kind of 'gameplay' or game design considerations in terms of Incarna, and Incarna's future in relation to ideas resonating from WOD or how Incarna can in turn resonate with WOD. But obviously we ain't going to start seeing emo vampires in spaceships... yet anyway

One thing I thought when I watched that short film, If they can make the game with that much foreboding, blood, and sex appeal, then I hope we get that kinda of stuff in Incarna.

Oh, OFFICIAL announcement. With a video! (That reveals absolutely nothing substantial about the game, etc.)
Yeah, girls are screaming! Throwing themselves at CCP representatives! I think they are so hyped cos it's some kind of 'vampire' / World of Darkness type thing convention.

Originally by: Ghoest I find it completely bizarre that CCP has decided to switch to the gothic woman/gay male target demographic considering that they build the company with EVE.
You dont think offering gullible middle-class kids a chance to talk about their inner selves and suffering in return for money is a good business plan?
Yeah, this, and the fact, as I understand it, VTM has a MASSIVE following. So it should be pretty win for CCP. Look how mental everyone goes after the video is finished. I actually think, by design or not, CCP makes good calls on what demographics to go after to build alternative games (to the industry norms). Most people in the MMO industry only ever seem obsessed by being a 'WOW' Killer, and I guess who would blame them. But pure profit as a drive to build games tends to reap bland games. CCP is an indie studio that does not seem to lose its roots, even after how much they have expanded. It's been a long 7 years, but right now CCP is in an awesome place to make good MMOs, it can take risks and be cutting edge.
What's more interesting is that when you consider EVE 7 years ago, and what it has grown from in relation to CCP as a start up company. Think of everything CCP wanted to do with EVE, but at the time was unable to for monetary and technical reasons. Both WOD and DUST514 are not going to be chained to such restrictions. CCP can realized its whole vision for these games right off the bat.

I don't know, but I'm pretty sure I saw a couple of Minmatar in there...
I swear I saw a naked chick in a bath of blood... pretty 'M' rated if you ask me... M for Minmatar.

Originally by: Zeuth Proxy What Iam curious about is if CCP ever plans on releasing a single player game.... Its seems more suicidal in my mind for a company like CCP to release a Online FPS considering the amount of competition in that market aswell as CCP not being well known in comparison. Where as EvE has grown so well and lasted so long because its a unique niche style. Same goes for the planned WOD MMO which hits a broader niche market...
I don't see CCP getting into the Single Player market. DUST 514 is most likely going to be the closest thing they get. More and more Single player games are going online more now. People want persistent and or DLC so either you get more MMO type games or Single player games which are persistent and have some MMO elements. There is also not too much in the way of a fully blown MMO FPS, and obviously non which connect into another MMO. Right now the closest thing would be MAG that I know of.
Obviously with Carbon now they have a big basket of goodies, but after WOD and DUST I'm not sure if they would invest in building more games for a while. Your talking about a company going from 1 MMO to suddenly having 3. They will need to iterate, and see if DUST / WOD are successful and start to pay back on the companies investment before they want to invest into another game.
